How to edit videos with Claude Code and EditorBrain
EditorBrain gives Claude Code editing instructions, visual references and your brand preferences. Claude Code uses that context to edit your clips with the tools available on your computer. The website organizes the work; your agent builds the edit and the final file.
What you need before you start
You need an EditorBrain account, a working Claude Code setup and access to a project folder. Your Claude access is separate. You can start from a recording, several clips or a script; each approach needs different source material.
Save your colors, fonts and editing preferences during onboarding. Choose how much you want to participate in decisions. Before editing for another business or client, select that brand so the agent works with the right context.
Connect your account and prepare the project
Open the connection guide in your account and paste its instructions into Claude Code. If you use a terminal and have Node.js installed, setup prepares the connection and skills for your chosen folder.
npx editorbrain@latest setup --dir ./my-videos --agent claude- Complete browser authorization when the command requests it.
- If a project is required, select the correct one and follow the suggested command with its ID. Do not initialize a different brand to bypass a pending selection.
- Read any remaining setup actions. An MCP configuration file alone does not prove that the agent session is authorized.
Describe the purpose of your edit
You do not need to specify every transition. Explain the goal, destination and ideas that must stay. If you have not chosen a style, ask for directions with examples before producing the edit.
Use EditorBrain to edit my recording into a 45-second Reel.
Keep the demonstration and closing message. Read my brand and the library.
Suggest a direction with references before producing the first preview.- The agent inspects the footage and reads the brand preferences.
- It searches editing references and adapts their techniques to your story.
- It selects animations, images and sounds where they help and are allowed.
- It produces a preview for you to review.
Review the video, not just the plan
Use the review artifact to point to specific moments: “at 00:12, let the sentence finish before cutting” or “this title covers my face”. Check that the preview corresponds to the version you are reviewing.
The agent reads your corrections when work continues. Clicking an artifact button does not necessarily wake the agent automatically: use the continuation request shown by the interface. Watch the complete export before publishing.
When information or tools are missing
The agent can ask for essential missing information according to your interaction preference. Automatic mode allows editorial decisions; it does not create a provider connection or grant an unlimited spending budget.
If a tool is unavailable or credits run out, the agent should check for an authorized personal integration or useful existing material. EditorBrain plans and credits do not include your Claude access or guarantee unlimited resources.
Common questions
Does this work in every Claude chat?
This guide covers Claude Code with file and tool access. A chat without those capabilities can help with a script, but you should not assume it can render a local video.
Are my videos uploaded automatically?
No. Installing the CLI does not upload your entire folder. Media uploads and document synchronization are separate operations; check what is shared at each step.
